1Ingress and storage capacity is measured in terms of the number of events or data size, whichever comes first.
2An event is a unit of data up to 1 KB. Larger events are counted in multiples of 1 KB. For example, 0.8 KB is billed as one event, but a 2.6 KB event is billed as three events.
3An environment can be scaled up to 10 times by adding more units.
4The data is retained in Time Series Insights based on the selected retention days or max limits (S1<=31 days, S2<=100 days).

FAQs

  • Each unit of Time Series Insights S1 SKU allows you to ingest up to 1 GB or one million events per day. This data is ingested via events that can be up to 1 KB in size. A customer can stack multiple units of S1. For instance, if you’d like to ingest 2.5 GB/day, you will need three units of S1 which will allow you to ingest up to 3 GB or three million events per day. The data is retained for up to 31 days or based on the selected number of days, (i.e. the data ingested on Day 1 is removed on Day 32 and the data ingested on Day 2 is removed on Day 33 and so on).
  • Each unit of Time Series Insights S2 SKU allows you to ingest up to 10 GB or 10 million events per day. This data is ingested via events that can be up to 1 KB in size. A customer can stack multiple units of S2. For instance, if you’d like to ingest 25 GB/day, you will need three units of S2 which will allow you to ingest up to 30 GB or 30 million events per day. The data is retained for up to 100 days or based on the selected number of days, (i.e. the data ingested on Day 1 is removed on Day 101 and the data ingested on Day 2 is removed on Day 102 and so on).
  • You can change the number of units via the Azure Portal.
  • Time Series Insights S1 and S2 supports events that are up to 1 KB in size.
  • You will be billed on a daily pro-rated basis. A day commences at Midnight UTC for the purposes of billing. The billing is generated on a monthly basis. For instance, if a customer uses three units of Time Series Insights S1 for a total of five days the customer is billed at the end of the month for three units*five days*($150/31) = $72.58.

    Similarly, if a customer uses three units of Time Series Insights S2 for a total of five days the customer is billed at the end of the month for three units*five days*($1350/31) = $653.22.

  • At the moment, we do not offer the ability to switch between different SKU of Time Series Insights.
