Monetising the cloud with Azure
Many Microsoft partners are capitalising on the growing cloud services market by building successful practices on Azure, and the latest IDC research shows that cloud-oriented partners are outperforming their peers by growing more quickly and profitably.
Find success in the cloud:
- Get ahead of the curve – Early cloud adopters are significantly outperforming their non-cloud-oriented peers. With the cloud market expected to grow to USD 76.1 billion (GBP 49 billion) by 2017, now is the time to get started.
- Choose a target – Focus on one of two paths: small and mid-size customers with a wide offering, or go even further with large enterprises. Pick a strategy and stick with it.
- Prepare for the transition – A short-term decrease in revenue is normal during the transition from project-based business models to recurring revenue models, but the long-term rewards – faster revenue growth, increased profitability and higher levels of new customer acquisition – are well worth it.
Azure partner success stories
“Because we create software in Microsoft Azure that we then run and maintain for our customers, they don’t have to invest resources in hardware or in hiring additional IT staff. That lets them focus on growing their business instead of managing technology.”
“By using Microsoft Azure CDN, NORAD Tracks Santa can handle the global scale and load needed to support the burst of traffic in December while also reducing costs. The solution automatically caches content on edge nodes throughout the world based on how often data must be updated. The use of multithreaded processes and client-side scripting also reduces the demand on servers and helps maintain fast performance.”
“Streaming content is immensely complex, with each device requiring TV programmes in a different format. As this is an emerging market, predicting demand is difficult, so it is vital that we have a platform that is scalable and that we pay only for the services that we use. Microsoft Azure provides the cloud-based resources, technical capabilities, close working relationship with the Microsoft technical team and commercial flexibility to deliver the seamless, high-quality experience that all3media requires and which consumers love.”
