Azure compliance: Azure Cosmos DB certified for ISO 27001, HIPAA, and the EU Model Clauses

The Azure Cosmos DB team is excited to announce that Azure Cosmos DB is ISO 27001, HIPAA, and EU Model Clauses compliant. ISO 27001 is a security standard that is intended to bring information security under explicit management control. It is one of the most widely recognized certifications for a cloud service. We are proud to join the family of Microsoft cloud services in scope for ISO/IEC 27001. Along with ISO 27001, Azure Cosmos DB is certified for HIPAA and the EU Model Clauses. HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) establishes requirements for the use, disclosure, and safeguarding of individually identifiable health information. The EU (European Union) Model Clauses help ensure that any personal data that leaves the EEA (European Economic Area) is transferred in compliance with EU data-protection law.
