Announcing MySQL in-app (preview) for web apps

Date de publication : 22 août, 2016

The MySQL in-app (preview) feature enables running MySQL natively on the Azure App Service platform. You don’t need to provision a database explicitly. This feature is enabled if you select MySQL in-app(Preview) during creation of a web app or if the feature is turned on for an existing web app. The preview release of MySQL in-app includes this core functionality:

  • It supports PHP, along with MySQL applications like WordPress, Joomla, and Drupal.
  • The MySQL server runs on the same instance with your web server that's hosting the site. This boosts the performance of your application.
  • Storage is shared between both MySQL and your web app files. Note that with Free and Shared plans, you may hit quota limits when you're using the site, based on the actions that you perform. For more information about limits, see the App Service plans.
  • You can turn on slow query logging and general logging for MySQL. The logging feature will help the investigation of any application issues. Note that it can affect the site's performance and should not always be turned on.
