Azure Monitor Agent and Data Collection Rules Public Preview

Azure Monitor is introducing a new concept for data collection configuration and a new, unified agent for Azure Monitor in Public Preview. The new agent and Data Collection Rules improve on a few key areas of data collection from VMs in Azure Monitor including:
- Send data to both Log Analytics and Azure Monitor metrics.
- Scope data collection to subsets of VMs for a single workspace.
- Send data to multiple workspaces on Linux VMs (multi-homing).
- Improved Windows event filtering.
