Azure DocumentDB is a fully managed and enterprise-ready document database service, built on the open-source and MongoDB-compatible DocumentDB engine. It combines a document API, vector, and hybrid search for AI apps and agents, automatic and instant scalability, and high-availability SLAs for easy integration with Azure security, analytics, and AI services.
- Existing customers will eventually see the product referred to by its new name in the Azure portal. There’s no change in terms of pricing or the functionality of the database service.
- Azure DocumentDB is a managed and open-source document database designed for hybrid and multicloud flexibility. Applications can be built using the free MogoDB-compatible, open-source DocumentDB platform, and deployed in Azure DocumentDB for easy integration with Azure services and Azure OpenAI, or in any other cloud platform that supports DocumentDB. Azure Cosmos DB is a fully managed and serverless NoSQL and vector database with a native API.
