As part of the previously announced
general availability update running on Azure SQL Database V12 servers
, we’re upgrading two application programming interface (API) default values beginning August 1, 2015. When you create a database using T-SQL, REST, or Azure PowerShell APIs without specifying a database edition, the default value will be the new Standard/S0 performance level, which is the same default that is used in the portal. When you create a server using REST or Azure PowerShell without specifying a server version, the default value will change from V11 to V12.
For more information, please visit the API value change documentation page: What's new in SQL Database V12
. There is no additional charge for this feature.
