1Microsoft commissioned the Enterprise Strategy Group to commission a study in September 2021 on the economic validation of migrating on-premises workloads to Azure Database for MySQL. ESG validated that organisations have reported significant operational savings, have reduced risk, and have improved the speed of application development and delivery when migrating to Azure Database for MySQL. ESG’s modelled scenario predicts that a medium-sized development organization with 26 developers and 200 MySQL instances could realise savings of up to 48 percent over a three-year period, including an 86 percent lower cost of administration. They could also realise improved revenue of $15.5 million with earlier release of products, improved application uptime, and improved product quality by using Azure Database for MySQL, resulting in a 92 percent return on investment (ROI).
