Azure Kubernetes Fleet Manager

Seamlessly manage Kubernetes clusters at scale.
Overview

Simplify multi-cluster Kubernetes with unified fleet-level management

  • Join AKS clusters across regions and subscriptions, as well as Arc-enabled Kubernetes clusters (preview) across clouds and on-premises as member clusters. Use managed Fleet namespaces to enforce resource quotas, network policies, and assign role-based access at the namespace level across multiple clusters. Access centralized monitoring data for all your clusters and reduce manual effort through automation and centralized control.
  • Safely apply Kubernetes version and node image upgrades across multiple AKS clusters with update runs. Define reusable update strategies to control the order and timing of cluster updates. Include optional manual or automated approvals for update groups and stages to provide fine-grained control over when updates are applied. Automatically trigger version upgrades when new Kubernetes or node image versions are published by defining auto-upgrade profiles.
  • Enable intelligent placement of Kubernetes resources across member clusters based on cluster labels and properties using cluster resource placement and namespace-scoped resource placement. Place resources based on cluster characteristics such as cost, resource availability, geographic location, and node count. Use declarative placement policies with progressive rollouts to add safety to resource deployments to minimize risks. Stage Kubernetes resources from Git repositories using Automated Deployments (preview).
  • Set up DNS-based load balancing for traffic flowing into member clusters using Azure Traffic Manager integration. Orchestrate traffic flow across service endpoints deployed in multiple member clusters with weighted routing profiles. Configure health monitoring, define traffic routing behavior, and manage the complete experience using Kubernetes-native APIs.
Features

Manage, update, and deploy across Kubernetes fleets

Update runs with reusable strategies

Define reusable strategies to orchestrate cluster updates across your fleet. Group clusters into stages, control rollout order and timing, and apply consistent progression rules. Monitor multi-cluster update runs and receive alerts to ensure safe, predictable upgrades with minimal disruption.

Automate upgrades across your fleet

Automatically trigger Kubernetes and node image upgrades when new versions are released. Use auto-upgrade profiles to reduce manual effort while maintaining control over upgrade scope and timing across all your clusters.

Cluster resource placement at scale

Deploy cluster-scoped Kubernetes resources from a central hub to member clusters. Target clusters using labels, properties, or capacity, and control rollout behavior with rolling or staged update strategies to reduce service impact.

Consistent namespace-scoped resource placement

Deploy namespace-scoped Kubernetes resources to selected clusters using declarative placement policies. Target clusters with label selectors, manage drift, and maintain consistent resource versions across your fleet.

Enforce multi-cluster governance with managed namespaces

Centrally manage namespaces across clusters with enforced quotas, network policies, and role-based access. Managed Fleet Namespaces (preview) help platform teams apply consistent governance and compliance controls across multcluster environments.

Operate multi-cluster environments from a central hub

Use a managed hub cluster to coordinate workload placement and multi-cluster networking. Store placement policies centrally while Fleet Manager handles cluster configuration and upgrades automatically.

Manage fleets across clouds and environments

Connect Arc-enabled Kubernetes clusters (preview) from public clouds, on-premises data centers, and edge locations. Apply consistent policies and management across all member clusters using a single control plane.

Deploy workloads directly from Git

Stage Kubernetes resources from Git repositories to Fleet Manager's hub cluster using Automated Deployments (preview). Streamline your GitOps workflows by automating resource staging and placement to member clusters directly from your source control repositories.

Monitor fleet health and operations centrally

Access centralized monitoring and operational insights across your fleet. Track cluster health, resource status, and placement activity to maintain visibility and respond quickly to issues in multi-cluster environments.

Pricing

Pricing for Azure Kubernetes Fleet Manager

There's no charge for the Azure Kubernetes Fleet Manager resource itself. You'll only incur charges for the AKS cluster created by Azure Kubernetes Fleet Manager on your behalf.

AKS charges include the virtual machines and associated storage and networking resources consumed for the AKS cluster.
