Public preview: Easily onboard Application Insights for Java apps on Azure App Services
Published date: May 25, 2021
Azure Monitor application insights is the native application performance management (APM) solution in Azure. Application insights for Java applications will now be available through Azure portal, with no code changes required. With one click of a button, you can enable application insights for your Java apps running on App Services Linux or code-based Windows. In a few minutes, the telemetry will appear in the portal and will give insights into the request, dependencies, performance, and allow for a deep root cause analysis.
The integration with App Service will be in public preview and will feature the consistent monitoring experience and levels of control that is available for the application insights Java 3.0 agent (GA).
Application insights in App Service can be enabled upon the creation the App Service resource, for the new apps, or for existing apps. Monitoring for the most popular Java technologies and libraries, such as JMS, Kafka, Netty/Webflux, Java logging frameworks, and more is available by default.
The following and other benefits will be available through the additional configuration:
- Azure SDK support (preview)
- JMX metrics
- Sampling overrides (preview) that let customers configure selective sampling for various requests and dependencies
- Telemetry Processors (preview) that allow to process the telemetry prior to send the data to application insights
- Other configuration option are available – see here
