We are retiring Azure Media Analytics preview processors on June 1, 2020
Published date: February 24, 2020
We’ve made significant investments to Video Optical Character Recognition, Face Detector, and Content Moderator, as a part of the general availability of Azure Media Services: Video Indexer, announced on September 2018. As a result, the following Azure Media Analytics preview processors will be retired on June 1, 2020:
- Motion Detection (Preview)
- Video Summarization (Preview) (a.k.a. Azure Media Video Thumbnail MP)
- Video Optical Character Recognition (Preview)
- Face Detector (Preview)
- Content Moderator (Preview)
The preview capabilities above are based on older machine learning technologies and have limited customer usage in production.
How does this affect me?
After June 1, 2020, any applications that you have developed using Motion Detection, Video Summarization, Video Optical Character Recognition, Face Detector, or Content Moderator will begin experiencing errors or failed job submissions.
What actions should I take?
If you require a solution that provides optical character recognition, face detection, or content moderation on video, we recommend you update your applications to use the Video Indexer capabilities through the Video Indexer v2 REST API or the Video Analyzer preset in the Azure Media Services v3 API, before June 1, 2020.
Motion Detection and Video Summarization will be retired and are not being replaced at this time. We will evaluate both scenarios and use-cases with customers for future investments.
