Static public IP addresses available for Azure virtual machines
Published date: December 28, 2015
Static public IP addresses can now be assigned to a virtual machine (VM) in the Azure Resource Manager deployment model. Until now, only a dynamic public IP address was assignable to the network adapter of the VM.
Note In the classic deployment model, a static public IP address can be assigned to cloud services. This is referred to as reserved IP (see Reserved IP Overview). However, only a dynamic public IP address can be assigned to a VM (see Instance Level Public IP Overview). There is no change in the classic deployment model with this announcement.
