One of the core pillars of Microsoft’s Cloud OS vision is to Transform the Datacenter with the power of our hybrid cloud infrastructure. Over the past several months since Windows Azure Infrastructure Services GA, we’ve been blogging about the various new capabilities available for SQL Server instances  running in Windows Azure Virtual Machines with specific emphasis on new hybrid database application scenarios.

If you want to learn more about how SQL Server provides the most complete data platform for your Hybrid IT environment, take a look at the following posts.

At the opening keynote for PASS Summit 2013, we announced the availability of SQL Server 2014 CTP2. One of the core investment areas in SQL Server 2014 is hybrid cloud and whether you are using Azure as your Disaster Recovery site for securing database/log backups or for Active Database Secondaries or storing data files directly in Azure, we have just the right solution for you. The following picture highlights these three key hybrid application scenarios we are enabling.

Stay tuned for more information coming out of PASS Summit 2013.  We’ll certainly be sharing more on our hybrid cloud investments, and we have many more blogs to come on these new features of SQL Server 2014 at the SQL Server blog.

Ready to download and try it for yourself?  Be sure and head over to the SQL Server 2014 CTP2 evaluation page and take a lab, download the bits or even better, try SQL Server 2014 CTP 2 in Windows Azure for fast and easy development and test of the great new features.  For one stop shopping on evaluation bits for all of the Microsoft products, head on over to the TechNet Evaluation Center.
