In conjunction with its Rise of Social Commerce event yesterday in Palo Alto, CA, Altimeter Group announced that the Congressional House Republican Caucus has been recognized for its “Creating Impact” Open Leadership Award for AmericaSpeakingOut.org (ASO). The awards recognize the organizations and individuals using social technologies to transform their organizations.
Congressional House Republicans (GOP) partnered with Microsoft to create ASO, which was designed to increase the dialogue between Americans and their Congress through a virtual town hall environment. Built on Microsoft TownHall, which runs on the Windows Azure platform, the goal of ASO was to provide citizens with an opportunity to share their ideas with the Congressional House GOP members. In the four months since the site launched, citizens have proposed 15,000 ideas for federal legislation and cast more than 500,000 votes through ASO.
