New disk performance metrics in Azure Monitor

Published date: September 22, 2020

Gain insights on your resources deployed and running in Azure helping you to maximize performance and availability of your applications and proactively identify problems in seconds with Azure Monitor. The release of new disk performance metrics in Azure Monitor will help customers identify causes of disk I/O or throughput bottleneck due to virtual machine or disk throttling. Throttling occurs when applications exceed the IOPS or throughput limit of the virtual machine or disk and can lead to poor application performance. Additionally, throttling may be caused by a virtual machine or disk that is not sized properly for the workload. These new metrics describe the utilization of the resource s IOPS or throughput on a scale of 0 to 100%, where 0% utilization means that resource is not being used at all and 100% utilization means that the resources is being run at its limit and is a bottleneck.
