We are very pleased to announce the release of Azure Consumption and Insights Connector in Power BI Desktop. Enterprise customers can use this to pull Azure Charge and Usage data for both Azure and Marketplace resources. It can be used by enterprise users for exploring, analyzing, and building their own custom dashboards.

Learn more by reading the detailed documentation on getting started with the APIs. Currently, we also have a Power BI Content Pack that can be used by enterprise customers for performing detailed analysis on their Azure usage and spend details.

What’s new?

  • We have the 4 datasets setup with the default behavior:
    • Current Billing period data for Usage and Price Sheet
    • Data since May 2014 for Balance Summary and Marketplace
  • We have added new parameters to pull data for any historical period as a moving window of data. For example, if you are interested in doing a month over month comparison you can pull data for that month from the prior and current year by using the new parameters.

Get started

Please check the steps listed in the Azure Consumption and Insights Connector documentation.

We have also added a guidebook section in the above document to help customers move their existing dashboards built on Azure Enterprise Connector (Beta) to the new connector.

What’s next?

We are currently working on providing this data using ARM authentication. As always, we welcome any feedback or suggestion you may have. These can be sent to us using the Azure Feedback Forum and the Azure MSDN forum. We will continue to enhance our collateral with additional functionality to provide richer insights into your usage and spend data for all workloads running on Azure.
