Last year at Oracle OpenWorld we announced a partnership to run Oracle software on Microsoft Azure so that Oracle customers can run their enterprise applications in a globally available cloud platform and get the economic and agility benefits that come with it.

Today, I am pleased to report that customer adoption is strong. Collectively our customers are currently running Oracle solutions on Azure for millions of hours per month.

IFS, an Oracle-based business software provider, is a great example of an ISV benefiting from the Microsoft and Oracle partnership. Announced today, IFS is launching their global cloud solution, IFS on Azure. By offering its enterprise apps in the cloud, IFS is enabling thousands of customers around the world an agile way to embrace the cloud, saving them time and resources.

“Working with Microsoft put IFS Application on Azure was an easy choice for us,” said David Eager, VP of Global Alliances at IFS. “There is a lot of appetite for customers to leverage IFS Applications on the cloud to drive down costs, as well as ensure their IT remains in line with business needs. The work Microsoft and Oracle are doing provided us with the perfect path to quickly offer our customers the ability to use Azure. The enterprise-level support offered by Microsoft and Oracle has been critical to us and to our customers.”

This is just one of the many examples of customers benefiting from the collaboration. We’re also making it really easy for customers to take advantage of this with flexible licensing options: you can bring your own license or spin up a Virtual Machine that has the license for Oracle Database or WebLogic included.  Solutions like this are helping to fuel the rapid adoption of Microsoft Azure and globally we are adding about 8000 new customers per week.
