At Build 2015, we announced the preview of SQL Database Elastic Databases to support the unpredictable database demands that Developers building software-as-a-service (SaaS) applications must manage. In response to enthusiastic customer feedback, we are lowering the minimum size of an Azure SQL Database standard elastic database pool to 100 eDTUs (previously 200 eDTUs). This change lowers the minimum entry price, by 50%, to create and use an elastic database pool.

Thank you for all of your feedback and we will continue to listen and make improvements to the service to work to create the best relational database back-end for SaaS development. To provide additional suggestions and feedback, head over to the Feedback page and for more information about SQL Database Elastic Databases, read this documentation page and view the video.
