Azure Cosmos DB developer experience updates are now generally available
Azure Cosmos DB has several new .NET SDK features to improve the experience of developers on Azure Cosmos DB. In the .NET V3 SDK, developers can now use the new batch capability to do transactional batch of operations across one partition key on their Azure Cosmos DB data, which previously required a stored procedure.
Management experience updates for Azure Cosmos DB are now available
Azure Cosmos DB has two important updates that improve the management experience for Azure Cosmos DB.
Support for multiple node pools in Azure Kubernetes Service is now available
Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) support for multiple node pools, now generally available, allows you to use different virtual machines sizes in each pool to run various workloads in a single AKS cluster.
New analytics storage for Azure Cosmos DB is now in preview
Azure Cosmos DB containers are now internally backed by two storage engines—a transactional storage engine and a new analytical storage engine. Both the storage engines are log-structured and write-optimized for blazing fast updates.
New PowerApps and Azure SQL Database integration experience in Azure portal
Now in preview, the Azure SQL Database experience in the Azure portal offers an entry point to create an app with PowerApps that’s automatically connected to a table in a given database. Quickly create low-code, robust user experiences for any device using data from your SQL Database tables.
New Stream Analytics and Azure SQL Database integration experience in Azure portal
Stream real-time data into a SQL Database table directly from the Azure portal using Azure Stream Analytics (now in preview).
Azure Blockchain Service enhancements are now in preview
Azure Blockchain Service keeps getting better with the addition of a new blockchain data manager and support for additional ledgers.
Azure SQL Database serverless is now generally available
Azure SQL Database serverless is a new compute tier that optimizes price-performance and simplifies performance management for databases with intermittent, unpredictable usage. Serverless automatically scales compute for single databases based on workload demand and bills for compute used per second.
Azure Cognitive Services capabilities are now in preview
The following Azure Cognitive Services capabilities are now in preview—Custom Neural Voice capability Custom Speech with Office 365 data Text Analytics; Sentiment Analysis 3.0 Text Analytics; Expanded Entity Type Support in Entities 3.0 endpoint Text Analytics; Personally Identifiable Information support in Entities 3.0 endpoint.
New virtual machine scale sets capabilities are now in preview
New virtual machine scale sets features simplify the management of virtual machines while improving their runtime and performance capabilities.
Autopilot mode for provisioned throughput is now in preview
With Autopilot mode, users select a throughput tier and Azure Cosmos DB will automatically scale RU/s up and down as needed to match capacity with demand.
Azure CLI update is now available
The latest version of the Azure CLI contains several exciting new features across the Azure platform including networking command, native support for Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2, and SQL serverless database support, in addition to others.
