Continuing our commitment to give customers more open and community-driven choices, today we are announcing plans to work with Google and Docker to bring support for both <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/GoogleCloudPlatform\/kubernetes\">Kubernetes<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/docker\/libswarm\">libswarm<\/a> open source projects on the Microsoft Azure platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Announced in June, Kubernetes is a declarative container management solution supporting orchestration and scheduling of Docker containers, originally built on top of Google Compute Engine. Microsoft Open Technologies\u2019 contribution to this GitHub project will enable Kubernetes capabilities on top of Azure Linux Virtual Machines. This will offer additional options to our developers who want to use Linux containers and manage them with Kubernetes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Likewise, MS Open Tech is supporting Docker\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.docker.com\/2014\/06\/keynote-videos-from-dockercon14\/\">libswarm project<\/a>, which offers imperative management on Docker,&nbsp;so that libswarm will natively support Azure in enabling deployment of containers on Azure Virtual Machines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The announcements today build on our commitment to supporting our customers\u2019 needs and choices, allowing them to quickly build, deploy and manage applications by offering the broadest set of operating systems, languages, and services of any public cloud\u2014from Windows, SQL and .NET to Python, Ruby, Node.js, Java, Hadoop, Linux, and Oracle. We are making steady progress in openness, as also evidenced by recent announcements on Azure support for Puppet, Chef and other open source technologies.
