Microsoft Copilot customers can now tap into AI-powered insights from Fabric as part of their Copilot experience, without additional AI token costs. Fabric IQ in Copilot Chat and Cowork is generally available today, with integration into the new Code experience coming soon through the Frontier program. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For Power BI customers, this semantic foundation is already in place. Today, we are excited to announce the next evolution of Power BI: bringing agentic app creation to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/power-platform\/products\/power-bi\/desktop\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Microsoft Power BI Desktop<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Business intelligence has traditionally followed a familiar pattern: analysts modeled data, built reports, and published dashboards for others to consume. Copilot in Power BI has made this process more conversational, helping users explore data and create and refine reports using natural language. Now, AI is enabling users to go beyond uncovering insights to build tools, workflows, and applications directly from their data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The new agentic app creation experience in Power BI Desktop takes this a step further. Starting with a trusted semantic model, users can describe the application they need, generate it using natural language, preview and edit it in real time, and publish it to Microsoft Fabric without starting from a blank canvas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While Copilot in Power BI helps you analyze data and build reports, this new experience enables you to create purpose-built data applications. These applications can accept inputs, write back data, preserve shared state, and support operational workflows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This experience uses our new Fabric Apps capabilities to provide each application with a SQL database in Fabric, authentication, and security. Apps in Power BI will be available in preview in the coming weeks to Power BI Pro and Power BI Premium Per User customers as well as Microsoft Fabric capacity customers. This means Power BI Pro and Premium Per User customers, at no additional cost, will also have access to Fabric Apps and Fabric Database capabilities\u2014up to 1 GB per app\u2014along with enterprise-grade security and scale for hosting. Fabric Apps closes this gap by giving developers a governed application layer on Microsoft Fabric.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since the initial launch in June 2026, thousands of developers have used Fabric Apps to build AI-powered business applications, operational workflows, and custom experiences on governed data. Using the open-source Rayfin SDK and CLI, developers and coding agents can build application backends and deploy them to Fabric as Fabric Apps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With the latest enhancements, developers can connect apps directly to Fabric warehouses, SQL databases, lakehouses, and Power BI semantic models without duplicating data, while preserving existing permissions and trusted business logic.
