{"id":4881,"date":"2016-03-09T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2016-03-09T08:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/azure.microsoft.com\/blog\/red-hat-customer-portal-from-azure"},"modified":"2025-06-26T09:20:34","modified_gmt":"2025-06-26T16:20:34","slug":"red-hat-customer-portal-from-azure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/azure.microsoft.com\/en-us\/blog\/red-hat-customer-portal-from-azure\/","title":{"rendered":"Accessing the Red Hat Customer Portal from Azure"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Did you know you can access premium Red Hat content by using a Red Hat Enterprise Linux VM image in the Azure Marketplace?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Three weeks ago we <a href=\"https:\/\/azure.microsoft.com\/en-us\/blog\/more-open-source-innovation-azure\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced availability of Red Hat Enterprise Linux<\/a> Pay-As-You-Go (PAYG) images in the Azure Marketplace. Today, I will show you one of the benefits you get from provisioning a Red Hat Enterprise Linux PAYG VM on Microsoft Azure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">First, let\u2019s provision a Red Hat Enterprise Linux VM:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"wp-block-list-item\">Open the Azure portal<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"wp-block-list-item\">Click on New<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"wp-block-list-item\">Type \u201cRed Hat\u201d in the marketplace search field<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"wp-block-list-item\">Pick the desired version (currently 6.7 and 7.2) and follow the rest of the VM provisioning process:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image has-custom-border\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/azure.microsoft.com\/en-us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/a4778302-dc32-4651-a1e7-343a1d0bea0e.gif\" alt=\"Red Hat Enterprise Linux VM Create\" style=\"border-radius:0px\" title=\"Red Hat Enterprise Linux VM Create\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Alternatively, you can use the <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/Azure\/azure-quickstart-templates\/tree\/master\/vm-simple-rhel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Red Hat Enterprise Linux quick start template<\/a> or command-line interface to provision a VM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"single-sign-on-into-red-hat-customer-portal\">Single-sign-on into Red Hat Customer Portal<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As soon as your VM is running, select it in the portal UI. The \u201cSettings\u201d blade should automatically open and you will see a line in the Support &amp; Troubleshooting section, \u201cRed Hat Customer Portal,\u201d as illustrated below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image has-custom-border\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/azure.microsoft.com\/en-us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/a7396c59-2db8-4c06-a64c-4ecf56e5c4c5.webp\" alt=\"Red Hat Customer Portal\" style=\"border-radius:0px\" title=\"Red Hat Customer Portal\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following the link \u201cGo to customer portal\u201d will initiate a single-sign-on (SSO) process to the Red Hat Customer Portal. Initially you will go through a set of steps to associate your Azure account with an account on Red Hat Customer Portal (either new or existing).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Upon successful initial registration, clicking the link next time will sign you in to the Red Hat Customer Portal directly with no need to type the user name or password as your existing identity in the Azure portal will be used.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once you are logged into the Red Hat Customer Portal, you can read the official Red Hat product documentation, find solutions and FAQs, and access a variety of other subscription-protected content on the Red Hat site. You can also open a support ticket directly with Red Hat using the Red Hat Customer Portal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image has-custom-border\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/azure.microsoft.com\/en-us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/b745a975-2a5e-4050-a736-4676b4a588d0.gif\" alt=\"RHEL Portal\" style=\"border-radius:0px\" title=\"RHEL Portal\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The ability to access the Red Hat Customer Portal directly from Microsoft Azure portal is one of many benefits included with the premium Red Hat Enterprise Linux VM image on Microsoft Azure.
