Through the fall, a number of companies that share our vision <a href=\"https:\/\/azure.microsoft.com\/en-us\/blog\/microsoft-and-facebook-call-for-open-ai-ecosystem-gaining-broader-industry-momentum\/\">announced<\/a> their <a href=\"https:\/\/azure.microsoft.com\/en-us\/blog\/support-for-open-ai-ecosystem-grows-as-amazon-web-services-joins-onnx-ai-format\/\">support<\/a> for the ONNX ecosystem and <a href=\"https:\/\/azure.microsoft.com\/en-us\/blog\/announcing-onnx-1-0-an-open-ecosystem-for-ai\/\">ONNX v1<\/a> was released in December.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today we are excited to share Preferred Networks (PFN) is adding ONNX support in Chainer. ONNX is strategically important to PFN because it can be the solution to bridge Chainer\u2019s powerful, flexible, intuitive characteristics originated from define-by-run approach and ease of deployment to various devices. PFN also recognizes the benefits of the ONNX open ecosystem to enable developers working on deep learning to move between tools easily, choosing ones that are best suited for the task at hand. It\u2019s great to have more framework support for ONNX \u2014 Caffe2, PyTorch, Microsoft Cognitive Toolkit, MXNet and now Chainer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At Microsoft we believe bringing AI advances to all developers, on any platform, using any language, with an open AI ecosystem, will help ensure AI is more accessible and valuable to all. In May, we <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.msdn.microsoft.com\/stevengu\/2017\/05\/22\/decode-2017-in-tokyo-japan\/\">announced a global alliance partnership with Preferred Networks<\/a> and jointly drove Chainer and Microsoft AI services integration such as <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.microsoft.com\/en-us\/azure\/machine-learning\/data-science-virtual-machine\/dsvm-deep-learning-ai-frameworks\">Azure DSVM Chainer preinstall<\/a>, Chainer x100 performance on 128 Azure InfiniBand GPU Cluster\/<a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/azmigproject\/ChainerMN\/tree\/master\">Azure Resource Manager template<\/a> for friction free deployment, Chainer and <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.microsoft.com\/en-us\/azure\/batch-ai\/overview\">Azure Batch AI<\/a> integration.
