The new Power BI Report Authoring SDK extension allows programmatic creation of visuals, binding them to columns, measures, hierarchies and personalising them by setting properties like axis visibility and titles.
Service principal allows you to access resources or perform operations using Power BI API without the need for a user to sign in or have a Power BI Pro licence.
A tool for automating load testing of Power BI Embedded capacities helps you understand how much user load your capacity can handle when used. It uses PowerShell to create automated load tests against your capacities and lets you choose which reports to test and how many concurrent users to simulate.
Power BI Embedded recently improved performance in two key areas: embedding different reports into the same iframe and query caching for embedded reports.
The new Power BI filters experience is available in Power BI Embedded and in embedded reports as well. The new experience has an updated design and useful features, such as hide, lock and rename filters.
This new region allows customers to locate their Power BI Embedded deployments closer to their data sources, either in Azure or on-premises, enabling faster data refresh performance and lower networking egress costs.
We have added some accessibility improvements to applications using Power BI Embedded analytics that will help users of applications have additional ways to interact with Power BI Embedded visuals. These improvements include keyboard navigation, title attribution and tabbing.
‘Key influencers’ AI visual is now available in Power BI Embedded analytics to help users identify what factors influence a KPI
The Key influencers visual surfaces what factors influence a KPI. For example, users may want to analyse what factors impact user satisfaction of a product. Factors that can impact this KPI can be the type of product they bought, the price or even if the user is a first-time buyer vs a returning customer. You can embed this visualisation into your own application with Power BI Embedded.
Using the Power BI Import API, developers can uncouple the dataset and report so they can upload just the dataset to a workspace. Developers use the 'skipreport' parameter to upload only the dataset in cases where they do not want to also upload the report to the workspace.
Anyone with a Power BI licence can now log into the account to see how the Power BI REST API works, get information or perform operation on Power BI artifacts you have access to - without writing any code using the Power BI REST API Try-it Tool. With five simple steps, users are able to try capabilities of the Power BI REST API without writing code.
Power BI Embedded customers can now deploy data in multiple geographic regions.
Using the ‘Refresh now’ API, the limitation on the number of refreshes you can schedule per day is removed and instead an unlimited number of refreshes can be triggered for each dataset.
TLS 1.2 is recommended for all Power BI Embedded applications to ensure that customers have control over the security of communications with Microsoft services.
Add custom buttons to Power BI Embedded reports so users can take immediate actions.
New code samples are now available for Power BI Embedded
You can use the Clone Visual API to make copies of an existing visual.
You can use the Themes API to apply a custom theme to your embedded report, such as corporate colours, seasonal colouring or other custom styles.
The Options and Context Menus APIs have been extended to provide full control for each visual in the report on built-in commands and custom commands.
You can use a new set of APIs to get a list of your Power BI installed apps and their content.
Use the REST API for Power BI Embedded to set the cache refresh of a DirectQuery or live connection dataset.
