Azure Blob Storage: Addition of new meter
On 23rd August 2017, we launched public preview of Archive Storage and Blob-level Tiering for Blob Storage accounts. As a result, we are adding a new “All other operations” meter and reclassifying some of the current operations in existing meters starting 1st October 2017. During the preview period, this change will only apply to new accounts created in Blob Storage accounts after successfully enrolling in the Archive Storage and Blob-Level Tiering public preview. Once these features GA, these changes will apply to new and existing Blob Storage accounts. For most customers, the changes will either lower their bill or make no impact at all. The changes include:
- Since ListContainer and CreateContainer operations can now include blobs of multiple tiers, these two operations will now always be charged at the lower “Standard IO - Hot Block Blob Write/List Operations (in 10,000s)” rate regardless of the account tier setting.
- All current read operations except for GetBlob will be charged at the lower hot read rate regardless of the account tier. These operations will be billed using a new meter called "Standard IO – Block Blob Other Operations (in 10,000s)".
Please reference the table below to see the impact on existing GUIDS in all regions. Your application will not require any code changes; however, you may need to modify billing routines that rely on meter names or resource GUID.
