Create a VM from User Image

This template allows you to create a Virtual Machines from a User image. This template also deploys a Virtual Network, Public IP addresses and a Network Interface.

This Azure Resource Manager (ARM) template was created by a member of the community and not by Microsoft. Each ARM template is licensed to you under a licence agreement by its owner, not Microsoft. Parameters

Parameter Name Description
location Location for the VM, only certain regions support zones during preview.
adminUsername Username for the Virtual Machine.
dnsLabelPrefix Unique DNS Name for the Public IP used to access the Virtual Machine.
authenticationType Type of authentication to use on the Virtual Machine. SSH key is recommended.
adminPasswordOrKey SSH Key or password for the Virtual Machine. SSH key is recommended.
osType This is the OS that your VM will be running
osDiskVhdUri Uri of the your user image
vmSize Size of the VM, this sample uses a Gen 2 VM, see: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/virtual-machines/windows/generation-2#generation-2-vm-sizes
vmName Name of the VM
