Microsoft has been expanding the portfolio of Azure Hybrid storage capabilities with new services for data tiering and cloud ingestion, providing more options to customers for storing data in Azure in native formats. In conjunction with this, support for the following StorSimple versions will end December 31, 2022.
January 2019
Azure StorSimple 5000/7000 series will no longer be supported starting July 9, 2019
Target retirement date: July 09, 2019
To avoid service disruptions, retire your StorSimple 5000/7000 series devices and migrate as soon as possible to an alternative solution.
September 2017
StorSimple 8000 series available only in the Azure portal from October 2017
Beginning October 2017, you need to use the new Azure portal to manage your StorSimple 8000 series devices. The Azure classic portal is no longer supported.
General availability: Critical Update 5.0 for StorSimple 8000 Series
Devices running Update 4.0 or earlier will have service connectivity issues after December 2017. We strongly recommend that you install Update 5.0.

Microsoft Azure StorSimple 8000 series management is generally available in the Azure portal. We'll transition all customers to the Azure portal by September 30, 2017.

A new subscription option for StorSimple 8000 Series, StorSimple Virtual Array, and StorSimple Cloud Appliance is now available.

StorSimple Virtual Device Series transitioning to the new Azure portal
The StorSimple Virtual Device Series will be available exclusively in the new Azure portal starting March 2, 2017 (March 9 for the US Government cloud).

StorSimple Virtual Appliance model 1100 now called StorSimple Cloud Appliance 8010
With the release of the StorSimple 8000 Series Update 2, the StorSimple virtual appliance model 1100 has been renamed StorSimple Cloud Appliance 8010.
General availability: StorSimple 8000 Series Update 2
StorSimple 8000 Series Update 2 includes two key enhancements that expand StorSimple’s use cases and workloads: local volumes and the StorSimple Cloud Appliance 8020 (based on Azure Premium Storage).
Public preview: On-premises StorSimple Virtual Array
The StorSimple Virtual Array is a version of StorSimple in a virtual machine form. It provides a cost-effective, lightweight solution for remote office environments.

New StorSimple features: bandwidth templates, controller management, email settings
Bandwidth templates allow you to configure multiple time-of-day schedules to tier the data from the StorSimple device to the cloud. You can create, modify, delete, and save these schedules as templates.
Azure StorSimple available in Australia
Azure StorSimple is now available in Australia with the same service-level agreement coverage that is available in other regions worldwide. StorSimple offers a unique hybrid cloud storage solution.
