Microsoft database teams host Ask Me Anything session

The Microsoft database teams will host an AMA session on Reddit on April 8.

The Microsoft database teams will host a special Ask Me Anything session on /r/Azure, Friday, April 8, 2016 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm PDT.

What's an AMA session?

We'll have folks from across all our database engineering teams – Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL VM, SQL Server, Azure SQL Data Warehouse and Azure DocumentDB – available to answer any questions you have. You can ask us anything about our products, services or even our teams!

Why are you doing an AMA?

We did an AMA for Azure SQL Database in November last year and got great feedback from you! We are now expanding our scope to more database products and services. We want to know how you use our database products and services and how your experience has been. Your questions provide us insights into how we can continue to make your experience better.

Who will be there?

You, of course! We'll also have PMs and Developers from the Engineering team participating throughout the day.

Have any questions about the following topics? Bring them to the AMA.

  • SQL Server 2016
  • Azure SQL Database
  • SQL Server in an Azure Virtual Machine
  • Azure SQL Data Warehouse
  • Azure DocumentDB

Why should I ask questions here instead of StackOverflow, MSDN or Twitter? Can I really ask anything?

An AMA is a great place to ask us anything. StackOverflow and MSDN have restrictions on which questions can be asked while Twitter only allows 140 characters. With an AMA, you’ll get answers directly from the team and have a conversation with the people who build these products and services.

Here are some question ideas:

  • What scenarios does SQL Server 2016 enable?
  • How should I choose between relational and non-relational databases for my application?
  • How do I know which of Azure SQL Database and SQL Server in a VM is a better fit for my application architecture?
  • What are the advantages of using Azure SQL Database over hosting my own SQL Server?
  • How much data can Azure SQL Data Warehouse handle?
  • What are some IoT scenarios where Azure DocumentDB is a great choice?
  • How do I migrate from an on-premise SQL Server to Azure SQL Database?

Go ahead, ask us anything about our public products or the team. Please note, we cannot comment on unreleased features and future plans.

Join us! We're looking forward to having a conversation with you!
