Discover the latest Red Hat on Azure innovations—sign up for the Red Hat Summit

Microsoft is excited to join Red Hat Summit 2021. During the event, we will share the latest developments that enable Red Hat customers to operate natively in Azure. We will cover innovations across migration of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) workloads, building cloud-native apps with Azure Red Hat OpenShift, running Red Hat workloads in hybrid with Azure Arc, operating and managing enterprise Java apps, and automating all tasks with Ansible on Azure.

Microsoft is excited to join Red Hat Summit 2021. It is our fifth year consecutively participating, and we look forward to engaging with the Red Hat community. In the April segment (April 27-28), Scott Guthrie, our executive vice president of Cloud + AI, will join Paul Cormier in the keynote “Open Source is Changing the World” to talk about our partnership, followed by an Ask the Expert session, “Azure Unplugged: Everything you need to know running Red Hat workloads on Azure.” Later in the June segment (June 15-16), we will feature more in-depth technical sessions and demos.

Here’s a preview of what you will hear from us:

  • In addition to migrating Red Hat Enterprise Linux subscriptions to Azure Pay As You Go images, Azure Hybrid Benefit for Linux now also supports Azure Reserved Instances. This allows customers to save money on both the software costs and compute costs when running RHEL in Azure; this is especially beneficial when running persistent mission-critical workloads, such as SAP.
  • JBoss Enterprise Application Platform (EAP) is now in preview with Azure App Service. The Azure Marketplace offer for JBoss EAP on Azure RHEL VM and Virtual Machine Scale Sets will be available this June. Azure App Service enables lift and shift of Java application with little to no code change. Azure RHEL VM/VMSS is a great option for clustered monolithic deployments migration from on-premises to the cloud without re-architecting the whole infrastructure. These new options simplify the migration of enterprise Java applications to Azure.
  • Azure Red Hat OpenShift clusters can be on-boarded to Azure Arc-enabled Kubernetes so you can manage and govern all your Kubernetes clusters from a single location. Customers can now use GitOps configurations as well to configure their applications consistently.
  • Finally, we’re working closely with Red Hat to enhance Ansible on Azure integration, which automates the management and operations for Red Hat workloads and Azure services deployed across the hybrid cloud.

The partnership between Microsoft and Red Hat enables our mutual customers to migrate to the hybrid cloud and operate Red Hat workloads seamlessly across on-premises, edge, and cloud environments, and provides security, management, and automation capabilities for their mission-critical workloads to run smoothly. From the first supported Red Hat Enterprise Linux on Azure VMs, unique integrated technical support, to jointly developed and managed services, we are committed to continuing the work in helping our customers to achieve more with our collaboration.
