Announcing Support for Backup of Windows Server 2008 with Azure Backup

Update December 12, 2019: The Windows 2008 operating system is no longer supported by Azure Backup. For the most recent information please see our support matrix for Azure Backup. Based on the overwhelming ask to support for Windows Server 2008, we are excited to announce that Azure Backup now extends the service to protect Windows Server 2008 64-bit operating systems as well.

Azure Backup supports the latest Windows Server operating systems such as Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2012 and Windows Server 2012 R2.  Azure Backup now extends the service to protect Windows Server 2008 64-bit operating systems as well. Azure Backup allows backup on-premises Windows Server 2008 servers to Azure for long term in an efficient and secure way. Azure Backup also allows seamless integration with the System Center Data Protection Manager to provide application aware backups from Windows Server 2008. Below is the table that captures different ways to protect workloads from Windows Server 2008 operating system:
