General availability: Azure Active Directory authentication for SQL Database and SQL Data Warehouse
Updated: 04 August, 2016
You can use Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) authentication to manage the identities of database users and other Microsoft services in one central location. Azure AD enables a single sign-on experience via SQL Database and SQL Data Warehouse, and you can synchronize a federated on-premises Active Directory instance with Azure AD. As a single place for identities for managed and federated domains, Azure AD simplifies the permission model and provides an alternative to SQL Server authentication so you can stop the proliferation of user identities across database servers.
